:: What it is
zd md is a desktop Markdown reader and editor that keeps one surface for reading and writing. Folder navigation sits beside the rendered document, and typing happens directly in the rendered text instead of behind a preview toggle.
It is the first tool in Zen Suite: a single zd command collecting small utilities that support AI-assisted development and review.
:: Why it exists
Coding agents now produce long plans, reviews, and design documents. Reading them in an editor pane is uncomfortable, and reading them in a preview pane makes them awkward to correct.
I wanted the measure, hierarchy, focus, and motion of a real reading surface without losing the plain Markdown file underneath.
:: How it works
Open a folder or a single file with zd md . or zd md README.md and work against ordinary local files. Remote images are not fetched unless you ask for them.
Focus tools highlight one line, paragraph, or section while the rest of the document stays in context.
Inline comments compile into an agent-ready feedback file with precise line ranges, so a review can be handed straight back to the agent that wrote the document.
macOS and Windows builds are published on the latest release page. zd is early and still prone to breaking changes.
