Talk to a lamp post. 🗣️
One of my Teachers recently used this, and now It's stuck in my head. ⚡️"The Lamp Post" ⚡️ methodology. It's geared towards talking about our role as mentors and coaches. The fact is, that humans operate better when they talk about ideas and challenges out loud.
This means that you, as a mentor, leader, or coach, provide value to people in 1:1's even if you don't feel like it.
For Example::: If someone passed a lamp post every day on their way home from work, and they stopped to talk to it about what challenges occurred that day, it would help. Just the act of talking out loud and unburdening themselves, leaving their mind free and clear, would lead to more ideas and breakthroughs.
>> You, as a leader, are even better than a lamp post! You can talk back, ask questions, and give advice with permission when the time is right. <<
Also, if you get a chance, talk to a lamp post (or a coach); It helps 🤣😂
